Memories of childhood

A whole world of pleasantries- excursions, books, palette-tinglers, arts, fun and laughter; I would sum up our little world- ie. the world of ours- Hansel and Gretel (I often equate my brother and me with them) was.

My brother came into this world exactly two years and eight months before me. Though the difference seems not much now, he was always a "big brother" whom I respected.

As a child I was a naughty prankster waving my hand at running cars, negligent in my studies (well, my brother used to pick up for me my school bag left at the bottom of the stairs the day before). He would reprimand me or warn me with a glare when I did something funny or giggled unnecessarily.

Blessed we were with the world's most wonderful parents. Amma managed everything at home- our studies, tuitions,  monthly shopping, payment of bills etc. She did all these driving our ambassador car. She was so small in the driver's seat that there was a popular joke that a driver less car was approaching. Speaking about my mother let me here add that my mother has been a strong support to me to this day through thick and thin. Thank you amma for everything.

Achan inspired us with his lofty ideals. He pursued his goals with determination and hard work. Even today, each dawn brings forth a wave of opportunities to him. Let me wish that I may inherit at least a part of his great spirit. Acha, I really really am proud to be your daughter.

Thank you God for everything.
